Big Bubbles

Making big bubbles from soapy water! We also did this on a campsite in France, it is very easy to do and great fun!
All you need is two pieces of rope (one of 40 cm, one of 80 cm), two sticks of 50 cm (can be branches that you found), a bucket filled with 4 litres of warm water (not too hot) and half a litre of cheap liquid dishwashing soap.

Attach the ropes to the branches/sticks (short one on top, long one below, I hope you can see on the photo's how it works). Now put them in the soapy water and slowly walk backwards to make the best bubbles ever (blowing bubbles is possible too).

Pittig Design

Pittig Design is the name of the webshop of one of my customers. Ellen, the owner, makes pads filled with cherry pits. The pillowcases for these pads are made from various kinds of hip fabrics (vintage and new ones). They look cool, don't they? Perfect as a warm gift (or to keep for yourself).

Kids holiday

This week, Teun has holidays from school. Time for fun! And for him, that is going to Ikea. Yesterday we went there, together with a friend of mine and her two kids as well. They had great fun playing in the "kids paradise", especially in the ball bath.
For us that meant time for some shopping (together with Karel, because he is too young for the kids paradise). I bought fabric (!) and some plastic containers for my work space to store smaller pieces of fabric, ribbons and buttons in.
When we returned home, Teun wanted to bake cupcakes, so we did. Decorated after baking with sugar glazing and little spring sprinkles (butterflies, hearts, eggs, flowers).

Ready for Carnaval!

Here are the costumes that we (my sister and me) made for the boys for the annual Carnaval party in the South of Holland. My sister made the lion costume for Karel and I made the grey wolf costume for Teun. They celebrate carnaval on school, child day care centre and of course this weekend in our city Oeteldonk (the name for 's-Hertogenbosch during Carnaval).

Yarnbombing

Knitters around the world have begun wrapping their huge woolly creations around public property like trees, street signs and lampposts.
One of the most ambitious pieces of work saw a woman spend an entire week covering a disused single decker bus in colourful swatches.
The phenomenon, called Yarnbombing, is thought to have originated in the US but knitters are now beginning to cover British streets in woollen ‘tags’.
This makes life a lot more colourful, right? You can read the whole article here.

Hi!

I am still there....
It is freezing here for already two weeks and that is quite extraordinary.
We had some snow as well last week, so my mum brought the sleigh (where we used to sleigh on when we were kids) to use for our kids. I even brought Teun to school with it and he thought that was great fun. Karel likes it as well, as long as he is fully covered with blankets and wears his hat and gloves.....

I bought myself a warm black hat for this weather, but I thought that it was a bit dull as it was. So, I ordered some crocheted flowers (Yes....I know....it is so easy to make them, but not for me.....and yes, I tried!) and I love the way it looks now!

Sorry....

No Christmas Decoration Idea today...
I had a very busy day with a christmas dinner and market at Teun's school and I am off to bed now (feeling a bit flu-ish and cold).
To keep you busy in the meantime, try this. Haha, an absolute time waster! You can play christmas songs on your computer keyboard. I found it on the Dutch weblog Do Something Pretty, absolutely worth a visit too.

Vote for me!! (please....??)

Or design a fabric and have a go yourself of course.
I have entered this fabric design into a competition, so please go and vote for me:

The website is called Bon Bon Kakku and is a pioneering net store where you can design your own fabrics. If your design is a success, it will be also sold on the site. Every fabric designed on the site will be published on the site for viewers to see and vote for. They will choose the fabrics to sell on their store based on the results of viewers voting.
I promise that if I win, I will give away a piece of the fabric to one of you!

Little doll

I could not resist buying this little ceramic doll. I admit that it is a bit kitschy, but it is cute though. And she looks a bit like the ladies that are on the Geisha ladies fabric that I like so much.

Rupsje Nooitgenoeg

I think everybody knows the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" or "Rupsje nooitgenoeg" in Dutch. Somewhere in the U.S., there is The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art and they now sell fabrics with "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" as theme.
There even is a Flickr-group for creations with this fabric.

Funny

I found these somewhere browsing the internet (here to be exactly). Aren't they funny? I wonder if the phones can still be used.
